ViRiX Dreamcore's Dynamic Dream
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
ViRiX Dreamcore's Dynamic Dream
What even is this?
This is a proof of concept project I started a couple years ago to showcase my music and audio implementation skills in Unity and Wwise. It is both that, and a proof of concept for an idea I've been tossing around in my head.
This is heavily inspired by games like Amplitude and Child Of Eden.
There are two areas to try out. Each area demonstrates various music implementation features.
Area 1: Horizontal and Vertical Music; with a retro flare!
This area demonstrates horizontal music by allowing you to switch between different sections of the song. Pay attention to how each change happens on beat with the rest of the song. There is a small bug where the camera starts off-center, but switching to a different song part will bring it back to the correct position.
Area 2: Futurebass Simulator
This area is a bit more complex and showcases a bit of the idea I've had for a while. This area demonstrates
- Horizontal Dynamic Music
- MIDI-based drum and melodic sequences changing based on user input
- Visuals tied to audio
DevTools
- Unity 2018
- Wwise 2019
- PlayMaker
- Koreographer Pro
Notes:
- This games ONLY works with x-input enabled (that's most Xbox controllers) controllers and the PS Duelshock 4 controller.
- The UI only has buttons displayed for PlayStation, but the Xbox equivalent works exactly the same aside from maybe the touchpad.
- Sound Warning: Apologies, but the application is somewhat loud and there are no audio options.
- A "gamified" version of something like this in Unreal Engine called Project EQ. As this is the case, this particular version is no longer in development.
